World Class Fitness in 100 words:
“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.” (from CrossFit.com)
It was in late 2007 that I transitioned from following traditional “weights and cardio” programs in the stereotypical Globo Gym environment, to more focused and effective strength and conditioning efforts applicable to life and sport. CrossFit and barbell training were the cornerstones of this transition. I have since taken this time to train and coach others, as well as progress in my own training as a competitive Olympic weightlifter.
I currently hold the following qualifications:
- CrossFit Level 1 Certified trainer
- NCCP Olympic Weightlifting Comp Intro Trained
- CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certified
- Agatsu Advanced Barbell Certfied
I currently train with the Capital Weightlifting Club in Ottawa and the North Bay Norseman/Valkaryies at the local YMCA.
