I was born in St. Stephen, NB at the Charlotte County Hospital and raised in St. Andrews by the Sea, a small resort town in south western NB. I attended Vincent Massey Elementary School for grades 1-6 and Sir James Dunn Academy for 7-12 and graduated in 2000 as Male Athlete of the Year, Valedictorian, and the Governor General’s award winner. I spent most of my youth playing organized and unorganized sports in the area. Everything from golf, soccer, baseball, volleyball, and of course, hockey.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. During this time I served on residence House and Orientation Committees and received the award of House Contributor of the Year for Lady Beaverbrook Residence. I had several work terms including a summer with NB Power, an NSERC USRA held at UNB, and a 16 month internship with DRDC in Dartmouth, NS involving field studies in the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
I have completed a Master’s of Science in Engineering (Electrical) in the research area of wireless communications funded by the CNSR project under the supervision of Dr. Brent R. Petersen and Dr. Bruce G. Colpitts at UNB. During this time, I received an NSERC Alexander Graham Bell CGS-M scholarship, submitted and presented at CNSR 2008, and filed for a CDN/US Patent covering my thesis work. I filled in periods of this time playing Ultimate Disc, traveling Europe, training at CrossFit Fredericton, and enjoying outdoor activities around New Brunswick.
I am currently working in Ottawa, ON for Nasittuq Corporation. I compete in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting at the club, provincial (OWA), and national level (CWF). I train, coach, and volunteer at the Ottawa location (Capital Weightlifting/Capital Strength & Conditioning) of the School of Champions Weightlifting Club.
